Also known as Palmaria palmata, Dilsk, Red Dulse, Sol, and Sea Lettuce. It is considered a red algae.
We think it makes a great addition to soups and stews, being rich in minerals, protein, and imparting a slightly salty flavour.
History:
Dulse has been a popular snack food in the places near where it grows. The earliest record of its use is by St Columba’s monks 1400 years ago.
