Traditional Uses
Sage was used especially with fatty foods, as it was thought to aid in their digestion. Thus it was often paired with pork, goose, or duck, as well as for use in making sausages. It makes a nice addition to stuffing for poultry.
It also makes a nice tea for using as a gargle for the throat, and many a menopausal woman speaks highly of it as a cold tea before bed.
